Since its inception at Fort Worth Academy, the Technology Integration Initiative fueld by the 1:1 laptop implementation has revolutionized student engagement and knowledge acquisition.
The goal was total integration – technology used so seamlessly that the computers would be almost invisible in support of the lessons’ objectives. The goal has been met and the results continue to be positive and transformative! At FWA, we continue to consider new pedagogies for our students of the 21st century, acknowledging the increasingly complex role technology plays in our lives and celebrating the world-wide connectivity it brings. To remain relevant in a Global Age, our school offers authentic and safe experiences that foster creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit, problem-solving and collaborative learning.
The core of our Initiative is the faculty. FWA teachers are reinventing the way students learn in their classrooms. Using tools native to their students’ generation, our teachers develop new ways to productively engage them in classic subjects as well as modern theories. The Internet, Web Quests, wikis, blogs, voice threads and Skype conferences intrigue, motivate, and allow connections and collaboration among students in the room, around town, across the country and all over the world.

Workflow is streamlined, allowing FWA teachers and students more time for hands-on learning.

Discerning “good” information from “bad” and knowing how to conduct oneself as a responsible, respectful “online citizen” are critically important aspects of today’s curriculum.

All students have immediate access to laptops and wireless connection, combined with age-appropriate supervision and access to information.
