Fort Worth Academy is redefining K-8 education, applying new learning techniques and tools in and out of the classroom. Our students and educators embrace innovation, change, and leadership in 21st century education, leaving behind the assembly-line approach of the past. Here are a few ways our 21st Century School is at the forefront of education:
-
International classrooms – Interaction and learning with peers in Mumbai, Canada, Japan, Scotland, Bahrain, Bombay and Peru through Skype conferences and other collaborative technologies in both lower and middle school classrooms.
-
Diverse student population – Our students hail from local communities, states across the US and countries around the world, creating a true “culture of community” on campus.
-
Focus on the individual child – The maximum class size at Fort Worth Academy is 15 students, while the overall student-teacher ratio is 8:1.
-
Relevant, authentic learning – The One-to-One Laptop program, along with other state-of-the-art technologies, expands daily learning opportunities and improves each student’s initiative and understanding across all subjects and advanced curricula.
-
High-school placement – Student and family counseling combined with year-long structured programs aid in placing 95 percent of eighth grade students in the high school of first choice; private, public and international.
-
TCU School of Education Partnership – Ongoing collaboration further refines and increases our knowledge of 21st century learning opportunities.
-
Advanced 21st Century learning – Fort Worth Academy is actively involved in The Laptop Institute at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tennessee. One hundred percent of FWA’s faculty and staff are invited to join this annual “think tank” of 500+ educators who collaborate with peers and partner with leading-edge schools across the globe.
-
Internationally recognized - Schools for All Kinds of Minds, by Mary-Dean Barringer, was published in April 2010, by Jossey-Bass. In her book, Ms. Barringer features Fort Worth Academy as one of six schools in the world having achieved the status - school of distinction.
-
Entrepreneurial focus – Class trips, visiting speakers and individual projects focus on developing entrepreneurial talents and knowledge in all FWA students.
Since 1982, Fort Worth Academy has honored its commitment to provide a balanced, personalized educational experience for each student.
