Mrs. Amy Webster
, Assistant to the Head of School, has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas. Prior to coming to the Academy in 2007, she worked for eight years at the Star-Telegram as an art director and spent several years at home with her children. She enjoys reading, cooking, and gardening. She and her sons, Nate, class of '17, Benjamin, class of '19, and her husband, Keith, like to spend several weeks in the summer at their family cabin outside of Durango, Colorado. Their favorite activities include hiking in Mesa Verde National Park and exploring the 4WD trails between Silverton and Ouray, looking for wildlife and ghost towns.
For Mrs. Webster, working at The Academy is a “family tradition.” Her mother, Mrs. Paulette Krehlik, taught kindergarten at the Academy from 2006 to 2010 “She kept telling me that my son, Nate, just had to attend the Academy, no matter what! After only one visit, it was the obvious choice for our family.” As a parent, Mrs. Webster found herself volunteering frequently in the Kindergarten classes and was soon hired as the Kindergarten Teaching Assistant. After 7 years acting as ‘Mom’ to all of the Kindergarteners, she was offered a position as the office Administrative Assistant. There was some initial hesitation- it was a very hard decision to leave the close interaction with the kids and teachers behind, but Mrs. Webster has realized that it is really not much different- she is still able to take the best care of people that she possibly can, and the kids often stop by her office to say hi or get a hug. She is energized by her responsibilities and the opportunity to work next to and learn from the Academy’s amazing Administration staff. “It turns out that I am able to experience the best of both worlds!”
