Mrs. Marcia Garoon
has been Director of Finance/Chief Financial Officer at the Academy since 2010. Prior to this time, Ms. Garoon served in the same capacity for the Cliburn Foundation and the Fort Worth Symphony. Previous accounting clients include Kinderplatz, Junior League, Historic Fort Worth and many other not for profit organizations in Fort Worth.
Ms. Garoon grew up in Fort Worth, but moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University. She graduated with B.A. degrees in English Literature and secondary education. After marriage and a move back to Fort Worth, she completed a masters degree in public accounting at the University of Texas-Arlington and became a CPA .
Ms. Garoon and her husband enjoy traveling, Texas Rangers baseball, and taking advantage of the many cultural offerings in Fort Worth. They have a son who is a professor of public health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a daughter who is a Dallas attorney, and twin grandsons. She volunteers for Kinderplatz, the Youth Orchestra of Fort Worth, the Mimir Chamber Music Festival, and the Cliburn piano competitions.
